Become A Volunteer

Thank you for being willing to roll up your sleeves and help animals in your community during these challenging and uncertain times. We appreciate your dedication and support as we work together for the well-being of vulnerable animals.

Volunteers allow us to provide great care and varied enrichment to our shelter animals. Without the time, effort, and expertise of each volunteer, we would not be able to run our shelters! Recognizing the valuable role of volunteers, we are committed to providing thorough, hands-on training with ongoing support to every volunteer.

Volunteer Opportunities

We seek and welcome your support and participation in this drive to give back to society in whichever way is within your means be it in cash or in-kind. You may be working adults looking to spend your weekends destressing and having meaningful time with our strays or you may be young adults looking for venues to engage yourselves in meaningful real-world experience. We welcome you all the same. Some of these animals had gone through some rough times outside and a loving companion might just be what they need to heal their souls.

If you’re interested in joining us at PPHM, we have several positions that will fit with your needs. This includes:

ANIMAL SHELTER HELPER (WEEKENDS/WEEKDAYS)

Duties: Cleaning animal enclosures and surrounding areas
Timings: Morning shift: 8.00am to 11.30am, afternoon shift: 12.30 to 4.00pm
Commitment: At least once a month, to be rostered
Requirement: Must be comfortable handling animals & previous experience would be beneficial

PHONE RECEPTIONIST (WEEKENDS/WEEKDAYS)

Duties: Front line role manning the animal shelter office, answering queries from the public in person and by phone
Timings: Morning shift: 10.00am to 1.00pm, afternoon shift: 1.00pm to 4.00pm
Commitment: Once a week/fortnightly
Requirement: Previous telephone/reception experience would be an advantage

DOG WALKER (WEEKDAYS ONLY) * CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Duties: Walking the dogs
Timings: 8.00am to 10.30am
Commitment: Should be able to commit for at least 2 months, preferably once a week
Requirement: Must be comfortable with handling dogs, dog owners would be preferred, although not compulsory as guidance will be given

ADOPTION COUNSELLOR (WEEKDAYS AND WEEKENDS)

Prior attachment in the animal shelter preferred. Must be able to help on both weekdays and weekends.

Timings: 11.00am to 4.00pm
Commitment: Once a fortnight
Requirement: Must be 21 years old or above and preferably an experienced pet caregiver. Good communication skills and basic knowledge of pet care is a must.

ANIMAL AMBASSADOR (WEEKDAYS AND WEEKENDS)

Must be able to help on both weekdays and weekends.

Duties: Stationed at events/schools or in the animal shelter to answer pet care, adoption, and PPHM-related queries
Timings: Varied i.e. weekdays/weekends.
Commitment: At least once a month.
Requirement: Must be comfortable with speaking to the public

MAILING ASSISTANT (WEEKDAYS ONLY)

Duties: Preparing envelopes for mass mail outs, applying labels and inserting documents
Timings: Between 9.00am and 4.30pm, up to 3 hours
Commitment: Ad hoc

MERCHANDISE SALES (WEEKENDS/WEEKDAYS)

Duties: Manning the PPHM merchandise stalls at various events and locations
Timings: Shift times vary depending upon the event(maximum 4 hours)
Commitment: Ad hoc
Requirement: Must be comfortable with speaking to the public
